Board of Directors
OSBIE appreciates input and representation from our Regional Directors to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our member boards. The OSBIE Board meets approximately four times per year. Each term as a director is two years. An employee or Trustee of a member board may serve on the OSBIE Board. No "insurance" qualifications are necessary. A strong belief in the benefits of a board-owned, non-profit joint venture, and a desire to learn more about insurance would be beneficial. OSBIE needs the counsel of knowledgeable and committed individuals to assist the Exchange in meeting the changing needs of schools through a strategic perspective. Members should also be willing to commit their time, open-mindedness, and innovative thinking to the OSBIE Board.
In 2005 the OSBIE Board of Directors, through the work of a Governance committee, developed a new Governance model for the organization. Working with an outside consultant, this committee set the Terms of Reference for the Governance Committee and the 8 Governance Principles for OSBIE.
With the ever-increasing focus on Board Governance, this was a timely and important project for the OSBIE Board to undertake. The Committee worked hard at establishing an excellent governance model for OSBIE that was approved by the full board and will result in keeping OSBIE current with the financial services industry.
