Legal Expense Insurance
OSBIE’s legal expense insurance policy provides coverage for legal expenses incurred in relation to several types of legal proceedings which are not typically insured through a standard liability policy.
OSBIE’s policy provides coverage for:
- Human Rights Tribunals – legal expenses incurred to defend member boards in Human Rights Tribunal applications brought by third parties.
- Contract disputes – defend against or pursue legal recourse on behalf of member boards in contractual disputes arising from construction issues, and the purchase or sale of goods and services.
- Employment disputes (non-union) – defend against legal proceedings arising from employment disputes with non-union employees.
- Property disputes – defend against or pursue legal proceedings relating to the occupation/use of business premises.
Coverage would be subject to the limit the board has purchased.
